North Star Institute

The North Star Institute is Constellations’ research arm. The faculty, post-docs and graduate students affiliated with the NSI provide leading edge research and scholarship on the state of fair and just computing education. NSI tackles issues ranging from the efficacy of national and state level policy on computing education, to the cultural barriers that continually preclude universal access to advanced computing for groups of people traditionally without access. In addition, the NSI is host to the most comprehensive data sets on computing education in the American south. With the rise of AI, and the grand claims of its benefits and the construction of data centers all across the region, NSI assesses the educational reality, risks and opportunities associated with this historic transformation.
